Why Kairos exists.

The industries had nothing in common. The problems were identical.

Doug spent years building data infrastructure inside other people's companies. Mortgage capital markets, commercial real estate lending, logistics, software, equipment financing. A Fortune 500 carrier, a top-tier investment bank, and a lot of founder-led businesses in between.

None of those industries looked anything alike. The problems were nearly identical every time. Data sitting in systems that don't talk to each other. Reports that should exist and don't. Two numbers for the same thing and no way to settle which one is right. And in every single company, a list of projects everyone agreed mattered that nobody had started.

The same conversation, in different buildings, for years.

What became obvious is that almost none of those companies needed a strategy deck about it. They needed someone to sit down and do the work — scope it honestly, build the thing, and stay long enough to make sure people actually used it. Most consulting ends with a presentation and a handover. That's the part that doesn't work.

That's the whole idea behind Kairos. It has grown since — helping brand new businesses get set up, and bringing in partners who recover money companies are leaking or finance their next stage — but the reasoning hasn't changed. Find the thing that would matter, own it end to end, and stick around.

Where the name comes from.

The Greeks had two words for time. Chronos is the ordinary kind — the quarters, the month-end close, the day-to-day that never stops and never waits.

Kairos is the other kind. The right moment to act, when doing something has an outsized effect compared to doing it any other time.

Most businesses miss theirs, because everyone who could act on it is heads-down on chronos.

The person who scopes your project is the person who builds it. There's no partner who sells the work and then hands you to somebody three years out of school. For the cost recovery and financing work, Doug brings in specialist partners he's worked with directly, and stays in the room while they do it.
